Tapping noise on my 383 solid roller lifter engine.

I’ve recently developed this tap on my 383 and have adjusted the valves 4 times. It sounds like a valve tap but I think it’s something else. Can you tell what it is?

I had a mechanic put it back together that's when I noticed the knocking sound. He adjusted the gap to 21 but was reading that some Need to be adjusted around 28. Not sure if the adjustment could have broke the cam

My RB26 had a valve guide that broke loose from the head and was kinda following the valve up and down. This was my tapping. Came and went somewhat similar sounding to yours, clearances were all in spec, cam and solid lifters looked mint. Might be worth pulling your exhaust/intake manifolds to take a look in your ports and try and move your guides. Not sure if you can get a visual of the guide from the valve cover on an SBC.

I would check your lifters. Sounds like lifter tap.
